Turtle Life Cycle

This week we are learning about the life cycle of a turtle. We watched this clip today. We thought it was quite sad that the mother left the eggs and that the hatchlings (baby turtles) never got to see their mum. We think turtles are very cool.

Some Surprises at Buddy Time

We had buddy time on Friday with our lovely Room I buddies. They have been learning about how to deal with bullies and following the red part of the MSS rainbow. For their homework they all did something nice for their Room D buddy. We were so surprised!! Some people drew cool pictures, some made lovely letters and cards, some gave their buddy a toy and Nikau got a comic from his buddy.

Beautiful Teddy Bears

On Friday we met everyone's favourite teddy bear. We had to vote and find 2 bears to be in the teddy bear competition at the Gala day on 25th March. Everyone got to vote for 3 bears that they liked the best. It was very hard to choose as all the bears were so great. Austin T and Hayley's bears got the most votes so we will see them at the Gala. Thank you to everyone for bringing their beautiful bears in, we loved seeing them all.

A Story to Listen to

Look what has happened...

On Sunday when Miss Groombridge was at school she saw one chrysalis on the swan plant and the 2nd caterpillar hanging upside down. It was getting ready to make its chrysalis too.


When we got to school on Monday we saw 2 chrysalis's on the swan plant. They look so beautiful with their gold dots. In 12-14 days they will hatch, how exciting!

Book Sharing Day

In Room D we love books so every Tuesday we have book sharing day. Everyone can bring a favourite book from home to share with their buddy and we read some of them together. Last week Ashley showed us her Willbee the Bumble Bee book. We loved listening to the cd while Ashley showed us the pictures. Thanks Ashley.

A Frog Life Cycle

This week we have been learning about the life cycle of a frog. We read a big book about Poggy Frog so we made little Poggy Frog's. Some groups also made a frog and tadpole out of play dough.

We think that frog's eggs look like a bubble and they would feel slimy like jelly.

Did you know that after a tadpole comes a froglet. That is when it has 4 legs, a tail and it can breathe out of the water.

Two Hungry Caterpillars

We are learning about the life cycle of different things. We have 2 hungry caterpillars in our classroom. They are getting very fat so we think they might make a chrysalis soon.

A New MSS Kid

Sarah has a very special Cabbage Patch doll and she just got her own MSS uniform! We thought she looked great and so did Mr Wheeler.

Greedy Cat

We have been reading books and writing stories about Greedy Cat. One of our reading activities was to make Greedy Cat out of play dough. Everyone was very creative and did a great job.

Our Enviro Day

Last Wednesday we had our Enviro day with Mrs Cowan. We did lots of things and had some great discussion about the green part of the rainbow. Everyone especially liked the activities in the nursery. Have a look at our photos to see what we did.

What's Missing?

The tooth fairy has been busy visiting some Room D kids this week. Nic and Ashley both came to school with teeth missing! We like your toothy smiles.

Big Ted

Look who is visiting Room D this week... it's BIG TED. The Room D learners have been getting lots of choice tokens for making great choices in the playground. They got the most in the school so that means Big Ted comes to our room for a week with all his cool sports gear. Here he is hanging out with his buddy Tiny Q. Great work Room D!
